April When we first met her when she was returning from school, a smile was on her face and she wore the dress of children's joy. We didn't realize that she was born in the heart of suffering. Behind that innocent face and slender body, there was a hidden sadness. If we didn't hear her story, we wouldn't have realized it!
Her name is Nissan Suleiman Kulaib Ali Kulaib, she is 12 years old, and she lives in Al-Hodeidah specifically in the Yakal area with her uncle, Adel Kulaib Ali Kulaib.
Nissan has two male brothers, the oldest is 14 years old and the youngest is 11 years old.
"My father died six years ago of cancer and my mother got married and we have been living with my uncle since that time," says Nissan sadly.
Her uncle added, "I am a simple man and I work as a fisherman. My family no longer consists of 12 people, but of 15 people. With Nissan and her brothers, they are my children whom I gave birth to."
He added, "Because my family is large and I want all of my children to exercise the right to education and go to school, I was not able to provide school supplies such as notebooks, pens, etc., because of their food and basic shelter needs.
He sighed deeply and added, "In order not to deprive them of the right to education, I always tried to collect some old and worn out notebooks from previous years and take out the used papers, and also resorted to giving them plastic bags as replacements for bags, and this affected the children psychologically... It always hurts me whenever they asked for school supplies and we could not provide them. .
Nissan added, “I am happy that I can now carry a school bag instead of a plastic bag! I am also happy to be back in school after the new classrooms have been built instead of us studying in the sun, outdoors or on the stairs.”
He concluded by saying, "I am happy with the role played by the Renaissance Makers Organization in contributing and alleviating the suffering of the displaced, orphans and the poor in supporting education, which is an obstacle before us that we could not provide. I thank the Renaissance Makers Organization."
The Renaissance Makers Organization has implemented a project to support education for the displaced in Al-Khoukha and Al-Tahita in Al-Hodeidah governorate, with funding from the Yemen Humanitarian Fund #YHF, which is based on the construction of 24 attached classrooms for eight schools, two in Al-Tahita and six in Al-Khoukha, in addition to the rehabilitation of the targeted schools and ensuring water and environmental sanitation facilities and the provision of furniture Schools for those schools, in addition to training teachers, distributing bags to students and labs, training parents, and handing out incentives to volunteer teachers. A field monitoring visit was conducted in the Al-Khokha area from 5 to 9 March 2021.
